Thanked: 30If you gotta keep the point, id use stones. If you take the easy route and round the point, id use stones for that too.

Thanked: 13249If you want to keep the Spike then you need to take off metal from the front, not the blade..
In the restoration game you can only remove metal, we haven't figured out how to add it back "Yet"so remove the least amout that is possible to achieve your goal.. In this "Case" (pun intended) that would be to shorten the length and keep the spike...
Myself I might go with Neutering the spike and call it good, but it isn't my razorLast edited by gssixgun; 06-18-2012 at 02:58 PM.

hmm, sounds like just muting the point and lightly rounding it off would be best then, thanks for the input guys.

If you're all set for a spike point just regrind the toe and remove as much as is needed to get the point back. We're probably talking 1 - 2 mm tops. On a flat platen it takes less than minute to shorten. If not just mute and round the point with sandpaper. Those are great little shavers.

Finally made a little progress on this. I dont have the time, space, tools or materials to make my own scales so I used a donor pair...
some pics of the initial mock up for clearances
The scales are just plastic so for now I think ill just try and polish them up a little bit and just get this beast to work. Later on I will hopefully get/make some more appropriate scales for the Imp.

Nice work on the blade. How did you polish it?
