Default New buffer, wherI'e to start?!

While at Lynn's for the Mid-MO meeting I watched him, in a matter of seconds, take a decent looking Henkels and turn it into a gorgeous looking Henkels on his buffer. So seeing this I just picked up a HF 6" buffer on sale (40$) and after searching for some good info on SRP, I am still pretty much lost. I've pretty much been using a dremel with the rubber polishing brush things, and then going to hand sanding. I would like to try using the buffer to do some heavy cleaning, as well as the polishing part. I read through Gssixgun's W&B buffer walkthrough, but am having trouble discerning where to start. There's a myriad of compounds, soft wheels, hard wheels, sisal wheels, oh my! If any of the buffing gurus out there would care to impart a quick run down of what a typical progression from rough to polish would be, I would be eternally grateful.
