Latest headache...I mean project
OK, so working on my first W&B picked up off Ebay. I should have went with my gut reaction and asked some more questions. One of the pics looked like it could have had a micro hairline crack. When it arrived, of course, it did. I have been honing it but it extends far up the razor. Almost to the markings. I did a pre break down hone with it and it shaved ok. I could not really tell that the crack was there. Maybe I should just leave it be and live with it. Thoughts?Anyway, I am also building some new purple heart scales for it. I went with a non-factory shape this time. So I have to make the wedge. Anyway, do all wedges need to have an 'incline'? I have noticed that the factory ones are slightly angled. Or could I get away with as flat as possible.

Thanked: 15In times of trouble, prayer is often the answer to all persistent questions.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

Good luck.

Are those few dollars you spend on that razor worth scarring yourself eventually for life? The risk of this happening are always very high. It is not advised to shave with a razor that has a crack at the edge.

It's right in the center of the blade. It extends up quite a way, almost to the markings. Under magnification you can really tell the extent of it. The photo does not really bring it to light either. It is there. I am not even sure if I could hone it out since it extends a good way.
That is a good point Max. Something to consider though I have given my self two tattoos so far. This was in the beginning.Last edited by Mephisto; 07-06-2012 at 05:52 PM. Reason: monkeys

I am not really seeing the crack unless it is just above the beginning of the flights in the arrow or to the far left of the picture. Those are the only things that look like they might be cracks unless they are just scratches. The line just behind the arrowhead looks like a scratch since nothing in the bevel that I can see.

That looks like a really bad scratch and not a crack. Can you see it from the other side? If not it is probably not a crack.

Magnified you can see it better. I do not have a good camera so I am working with what I have. It does look like a scratch in the pic. Its the line that looks like it is extending to the tip of the arrow and goes down to the edge. Under magnification it has a small chip which is caused by the crack.

From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place
