    Default Help! Restoration With etching?

Hey all, I have been doing by own blade regressions by hand now for quite some time but I am expecting to start my first restoration with an etching on the blade. The etching is not the deep engraved type rather the surface type. The reason for my greatest concern is because the etching still has the original black coloring to it. Any advice on how I should desire this blade and still preserve the original integrity of the etching?

It might help us if you put up some photos of the etching.....

The most gentle cleaning I have found to date, for etching is still the Tumbler method and it WILL take out the blacking..

But yes a pic will help a ton, plus we like Razor Porn in general around here

If the dirt is only surface black, the tumbler method might work.
If not, you'll have to choose between keeping the etching or removing the dirt.

I guess you can't post photos if you don't have the razor.

However, your enthusiasm is appreciated and you will be happy to know that there are guys chomping at the bit to help you with your problem. All we need are those photos. Thanks

Glen, I have to ask: Are you referring to a brass tumbler like a Frankford Arsenal Brass tumbler? If so what do you use for media? Corn? I'm thinking it would really damage the edge.
    Thanks

    Check this out.

I have had mixed results but if it is tumbler material the edge is the least of your worries.
