Thanked: 603Gorgeous Old Scales, Worn-Out Blade
Shalom!
I recently moved to the wet-shaving lifestyle, and purchased a lovely Red Imp #133 (Solingen, made for Morrison). I also just bought another straight razor (unlike wives, where one is more than enough). The second razor has (IMHO, all being subjective) gorgeous scales, but the blade is worn-out and needs to be replaced (or surgery). Here's the URL where you can see a photo:

So many questions!
Might this blade be restorable? If so, would it be worthwhile? If not, are there sources for purchasing new (or "previously-owned") straight-razor blades, either from a commercial source, an individual, or an auction on eBay (where the scales are cracked, or just plain butt-ugly)?
Any/all help will be appreciated. Note: I've got no tools, so at this point I'll either have to go use friends' facilities, or send it off.

Thanked: 346The blade is shot. It's been honed past the belly into the secondary grind. If you like the scales, find a razor of similar size with shot scales and mix-and-match the two.

JB, I can't pull up the picture for some reason, so I can't give you any advice, but if you'll PM me, maybe you could send the pic to me directly and we can see what should be done. I can probably provide a good blade (I've got a few lying around
) if it can't be salvaged, or fix it if it can.

Ok, I was able to pull it up finally...mparker's right. The blade is shot. The handles could be married to a good blade, though.

Thanked: 603Thanks for the reply. I checked-out your website, and was pleasantly surprised to see your offering of a Red Imp #133, with the 3-pin handle. The one I just bought looks to be the same:

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Thanked: 2Welcome,
Joe's services are top notch. I really suggest getting in touch if he says he can help. He's reground a few blades for me and provides an excellent hone service. I'm sure he could find the blade you are looking for, since he owns at least like, 5 or maybe even 10.
BTW, let's see those tattoos. Search the off topic forum and you'll find a couple threads.

The one that Joe has to offer looks amazing and should be an even better shaver. As for the one you bought, I agree with MP/Joe.
P.S. Welcome aboard!
