Tang Rubbing Against Scale
Hi guys,
Today something a bit weird happened. The last time I shaved with my PJM razor was 2 days ago. Opening and closing the razor felt sure, non flappy but it's not exactly tight. Today, when I open the razor, I felt slight resistant compared to before and it got tighter as I opened it more. Then I realised that one side of the tang is rubbing the inner part of the scale. I tried to think and remember hard but I'm sure it wasn't like that 2 days ago. Am I imagining things or the tang suddenly rub against the scale. Please help.
Thanks

Thanked: 31What are the scales made from? Could they be expanding and contracting from humidit/moisture?

I was told by some good folks in here that the scale for particular model of PJM was made of bone. If so, would it be affected by humidity and moisture? I do live in humid tropical climate.

Hmm... I have no personal experience with bone scales (yet!) but as they are a natural material, I suspect that they would be quite prone to absorbing humidity. And if they do that at different rates, that would certainly explain warped scales. But I'll absolutely defer to those with more experience with bone scales.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 2027Like Ivory, bone will without question expand and contract with changes in humidity,as much as .002.And yes I have measured these changes
