Basic Restoring Kit Help Needed
Hello im researching on the methods on restoring razors but like learning to shave and hone them there are a lot of different opinions on what to do,so i ask can anyone give me a basic shopping list of things to get to get started, nothing too expensive i already have a dremel tool (not sure what attachments i have) or is there a thread you can point me to with the answer
I figure:
Small Hammer
Small Anvil
Wax of some sort
New Scale Pins
Some other Dremmel Bits
I get the feeling this list is too short can anyone help

Thanked: 10Well, for a starter kit here is what I suggest. Take the dremel and put it in a drawer and leave it there. Do your first razor by hand so you learn what needs to be done and how.
Materials:
Good quality wet/dry sandpaper grits 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000
Needle files, Nicholson brand is good
Side cutters or flush cutters
1/16" brass pin stock or brazing rod
Jewelers hammer or very small ball pein 1oz-6oz weight. 2oz is common and best
If you have a bench vise, you already have an anvil, but a 5lb sledge hammer head, auto body dolly, or any heavy and hard chunk of metal that weighs over 1lb.
Polishes can be used by hand just fine, it takes longer but it work.
This is a basic kit to get you started, as you do more like making your own scales you will need more tools.
Any specific questions feel free to ask.

Thanked: 109Do some searching for "Dremel". You would be well advised to NEVER use a Dremel on a razor. YMMV
