    Default Loose Frame on Frameback

    Hi,
I've just 'restored' a Jernbolaget frameback. I didn't unpin it or anything, just gave it a good going over with 400, 600 and 800 wet and dry. The frame is loose and slides off easily, so much so that it actually moves a little when stropping. I'm wondering if I should tighten it, and how. I'm also, though, considering the benefit of it being easily removable for cleaning purposes.

What do you think? Tighten or nay? If so, how? A pair of pliers and cardboard to protect the frame?
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

    Hi Carl,

It's not uncommon on these, what I have done to fix it is to remove the frame and wrap it in a piece of leather and gently use a hammer and anvil to tighten it.

Yes! you might want to slide a piece of cardboard up into it so you will not crush it if you get carried away!
Tap a bit and test fit. OH! Carl! make sure it is going on the right way. After you get it on, it might be difficult to remove!
I do recommend some tuffglide or oil in there too!

    Default Loose Frame on Frameback

I wonder if cooling the blade in the freezer and warming the frame in the oven might ease re-installation?

I know nothing of this process for razors, but have done quite a few friction sets on other mechanical devices. A decent heat differential makes a big difference sometimes.

You might consider send gssixgun a PM and ask him. He is currently putting a back on one of my framebacks.
