Thanked: 2209Tapered /threaded mandrel buffer sander is finished! :)
I thought I would start a new thread on this since the original thread is now so long.
Here are pics of the straight razor buffer /sander I just finished building using a tapered & threaded mandrel made by our guy Geezer.
It is 1 1/2" stainless steel mandrel that has been precision ground.
The motor is a 1/4 hp running at 1750 rpm. The felt buff on the right side is 2" diameter and even on the highest speed, ~ 2000 rpm, I do not notice any wobble. What is nice about this setup is that there is a lot of clearance for the razor as I buff or sand it and by using the step pulleys it gives me a range of speeds that are suitable for the various tasks. I did not include any pics of the sanding wheels yet. I will post those in the future. Then I will make a video of it in use.Last edited by randydance062449; 09-24-2012 at 02:13 AM.

Thanked: 247Although you've put two colors together that we'd never see in a field here in my neck of the woods, that's a darn fine machine. If you keep on with this thing, I'm gonna be PM'ing Geezer right quick for my own first piece of that puzzle.
