    Default Morley Restoration (first restoration)

Hi all this is a W.H. Morley & Sons spike I picked up at an antique store for $25. I think that was a decent price, I was happy with it and that's all that matters to me. I am currently restoring it using information I have collected here and there.
Here are some pics before any work was done.

Here you can see some marking inside the scales Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349476001.930575.jpg

Here is a spot on the scales where the blade wore/cut it out a little bit Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349476208.182515.jpg

The scales are very flexible, too flexible for my taste. It takes very little pressure to compress them Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349476276.042029.jpg

That's a nice one. I have a George Butler that's very similar to this. I kept it as is. I just cleaned it up with some metal polish, honed it, and that was it. If I were you I'd use it the way it is, but that's just me.

Harrywally, thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to make a pair of scales for it but I'm deffinately keeping the old ones. Other than that I think I'll stick with a good polishing and forgo removing the slight pitting. The pitting isn't e/affecting (I can never remember the difference) the bevel.

Very nice. Just sold a razor that looked exactly like that. Fantastic shaver. You'll be very happy with it.
