Beginners restorations
Hi there, I've rescently decided to try my hand at restoring some of my demic blades I've accrued over the past 6 months, I'm in the uk so I'm still struggling to source washers, pins and scale material at an affordable price but I've had a bash anyhoo, what do you think?? My first is a warranted, hollow ground in walnut stained beech wood..
I used the wood from a cooking spatula for the scales. I managed to get hold of some pieces of horn and scaled a wade and butcher...
And then an old w. gilchrist I had some fun with.... More pics in next post

Very nice the wooden scales are handsome considering their humble origins as a spatula handle, from one implement to another.
Aloha,
ED

Some really nice looking razors there, nice job.

Sorry, demic blades is a term I use very loosely, I just means razors with shot (damaged beyond repair) scales and very rusty or patinad blades that I left to one side until I plucked up the courage to give them a go at restoring.

Really like the scales notched to mimic the blade.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.
