Thanked: 0Checklist
Hi all,
I am about to begin some restoration on about 15 razors that were given to me by an ol' barber friend of mine.I also have Bill's CD.
Could someone please give me a list of the types of equipment I will need.I have a dremel and different sanpaper grits, but would like to know what I need in regards to grades and sizes of radial discs and any other equipment that will be needed to restore a razor from the minor pitting stage to satin and mirror finish.
I thank you in advance for your help and advice.
Pete (from down under).

Abrasive flap wheels from widgetsupply.com are a great start. Felt pads with polishing compounds (got some great results from the Dremel brand red paste) are great for that final polish and to get rid of shallow rusting/watermarks/patina.
You'll also need pinning stuff like 1/16" brass rod stock (any hobby shop), #0 and #0w brass washers from microfasteners.com, a ball peen hammer and a jeweler's anvil.
If you want to make your own scales, you'll need some good woods, brass sheeting for liners (0.01"), truoil and thin cyanoacrylate (superglue) for finishing, a coping saw.
This is just to get you started. Read through the restoration forum, it has great info on all restoration topics.

I use sandpaper and that's about it.
Grits:

followed by some steelpolish.
Offcourse by the standards that are held here I'm an amateur at best.
