    Default I need horn!!

Just wondering where to get horn blanks for scales. Now I've read that getting animal "parts" across the border can be a pain in the rear. I'm not sure if this is true or not but, If you Canadian boys know somewhere here in Canada, that would be key. I'm dying to do some horn scales!! Wood wood wood just gets boring.

I have ordered from Masecraft a couple of times with no problems at all:

    Masecraft USA: HORN

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I have bought from this guy on eBay and never had any issues. The postage rate applies no matter how many blanks you order.

I have had good luck with him also. Be very sure to describe what you want exactly. There are products with the same name that will not satisfy you. Horn is extremely variable in coherence, coloration and warpage. I would suggest contacting him by email and then making your order from the 'bay after he answers your query. That way, with your ebay name, he knows it is you and will fill the order himself rather than it being filled by an order picker that only looks at the bin label.
    Good folks there!

Bye the way, when you get the horn, do not just let it sit. It will absorb moisture on one side and warp badly. Also a 6" x 2.5-3" x 5mm/.25" thick piece will yield 4 scales. Two pair.

As geez says, any natural material to be used as scale material,be it wood,Bone,Horn, Ivory,is hygroscopic. It will extract water from the air around it and warp.
Tape it, clamp it to a flat object,if not being used right away.
