    Default Removing logo from blade?

Specifically is it possible (easy?) to remove the Gold Dollar logo from a blade? I'm not sure if it is paint, etched or what?

Very easy, 2000 grit W/D sandpaper will handle that.

Thanks. Another question since the SRP library is down.

I've looked at some of the wooden scales making videos and I see them addressing making a wedge and having two pinned holes at the front and back. The only hardware seems to be two brass pins.

What stops the blade from falling through? On my cheap Gold Dollar razor there is a "hidden" little spacer bar for the tang to stop at.

This is never mentioned in the videos. If it's not necessary in their designs...why?

The width of the back of the razor is what keeps the blade from falling through the scales. The edge is safely seated, but the back does not go through. The 3rd pin is not needed and most razors don't have it.

Oh, I see, I think. It's the greater width of the spine that keeps it from going any further into the scales.

Regarding using 2000 grit for the GD logo. I started using that by hand and nothing was happening yet so I decided to put a few drops of "Goof Off" on it...bam...it easily wiped completely off!

Who knew it was that easy! Well, at least I'm learning

Yes, it's the width of the blade.
Although sometimes there is a 3d pin in the scales, located under the tang.
And then it is the tang resting on the pin (or a piece of wood / plastic / ... held in place by the pin).

Well I have to bring up "my" 800 lb gorilla on this one. Why would you take the logo off the blade?

As the 800 lb gorilla would say..."Because I can"

Seriously, because it's ugly (to me). I like the blade plain better. I'm going to eventually make some wooden scales for it as well.

LOL - that's fair enough. I guess my gorilla gets testy as I am just the big enough fool to get caught up in the scales and buy it for that alone.

Seriously in the past year I have been seeing more junk on the bay being passed as vintage or what have you... hmmm, maybe I am just getting better educated and it was always there and that's why I have an 800 lb Gorilla that gets testy lol!

Anyway all the best of luck - try giving it a forced patina before you start sanding and see if you like that look. If not, you'll just have to sand a bit more. Again - good luck.
