A solution of warm 50-50 vinegar and water works well to get rid of soap scum. HOWEVER, it must be limited to about 5 minutes and then neutralized with a soap like Spic and Span and then rinsed well; a few tries and the razor will be clean. A pipe cleaner really gets into the areas which are hard to get at like the mechanism of an adjustable TTO.

I neglected to recommend my cleaning method -

Boil the razors in hot water and a few tablespoons of baking soda. I use toothpaste and hot water on a cheese cloth to clean the surfaces. When you finish with the scrubbing, boil again in just hot water to clean off remain toothpaste.

*** Never let the razor sit directly on the bottom of the pot - the direct heat can leave burn marks on the razor. If this happens, new plating will be necessary to get rid of the markings.
