Thanked: 12Progress Full Hollow Ground blade and scales
Just finished the first of two base board scale and blade restores. The blade is a 6/8 Progress "Full Hollow Ground". Only needed minor polishing with Flitz. The scales are made from an old base board. Unsure what wood it is. I tried to do a nice series of bevels on the scales to keep with the sharp lines of the blade. The wedge is made from silver Maple and Ivory. I finished the scales in Tung oil.

I think the angular way you shaped the scales is beautiful, sharp clean lines.

Very nice! The beveling adds an extra level of artistry and beauty. The wood is mahogany, I believe.

Thanked: 1184Love the wood work. If I had my way razors would be worth more if you replaced those old original scales with a nice wood :<0).
Nice job indeed !
Wonder how hard it would be to carve a little reaper? < a real brain fart.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Progress Full Hollow Ground blade and scales
Great scales, nice to see something other than a domed profile.
