Restoration of old razor
I've restored some old razors, but this one was special. I found it in my uncles barn, were its been hiding for decades.
It was rusted and the scales made of horn, almost completely destroyed. The razor isn't Danish. My guess is that it is British, but any information is appreciated.
The decay was Significant, so the restore made honing very difficult. It shaves, but not nice :-(
I've used rosewood, or what we call Santras Parlisander in Denmark to make the scales. The wood came from my grand fathers wood carver shop. He passed a warning to my dad, about the wood. He said it was poisoned and could give allergy in contact to skin.
He was right. As soon as I started shaping the scales, my skin started to get red, like burns. However as soon as the scales were finished the skin problems stopped. :-)
It's a nice razor, and will be in my collection. Sadly only on display.

All your photo's are upside down.

Yes but I have no idea why.... I'll guess you just have to turn your monitor upside down, until I find a way to correct the orientation ;-)
