Red face Caswell Aluminum Oxide Wet and Dry Paper

Now Ive seen a healthy amount of threads discussing Caswell's line of polishing wheels and Greaseless compounds. But I don't quite have the luxury to purchase a 1100 RPM buffer .
So Iv'e decided to keep a stiff upper lip and go with a wet and dry from Caswell.

But before I make the buy I'd like to ask if anyone has had any experience with this w/d paper? Will this be good enough for a blade restoration project (even though Im sure exhausting)?

Heres the link to the site just incase I'm actually making things up:

    Wet and Dry Paper

On a separate note has anyone used their SD-COMSCALE 650 Concentrated Rust Remover on any restoration or would this be unadvisable with the blade detached from the scales?

    Thanks!

I have not used the paper you mentioned. I think that it would be fine Caswell has a good reputation.

I have used the wet/dry made by 3M,Norton,Mirka they all worked fine. Autobody supply stores are great place to buy sand papers.

The sandpaper will remove the rust so forget about the rust remover.

    Rust remover is not necessary.
I regularly spray from WD40 on the blade to keep the sandpaper from clogging up.
And to be honest, it doesn't 'really' matter what paper you use. Just buy whatever they have at your local hardware shop.
I did find the ones backed by linen to be much better than the ones backed by paper.

Thank you all I've decided to do a little test. I will by stopping by a auto/hardware shop and checking a cheap range of sheets to work with; also Im going to buy the caswell w/d and see how they do.

Ill let you know how they turn out.

And no rust remover, scouts honor.
