Thanked: 0When can I step up to the next grade of sanding paper.
Restoring a eBay purchase.
I started with 80 grit to get the pits out, an now using 100 grit, slowly work my way up to 2000.
Question is how do you know when you have all the marks out from the last grade paper.
I do not want to step up to 120 If I still have some lines from the 80 grit left, but can not tell by looking if the lines are from the 100 I am now using or from the 80 grit I previously using.

By alternating sanding directions.
For example, if you go to 120, sand in an alternate direction until all 80 grit lines in the previous direction are gone.
Then when going to 180 pr 240, you again go the same direction as with the 80.
Keep alternating, and keep sanding until all sscratch lines in the other direction are gone.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

When can I step up to the next grade of sanding paper.
I don't like using anything under 1000.
