Hi Guys, here are some pics of the bengall and bushman i picked up from a vintage store in fitzroy.
Should I rinse the blade before I start with the metal polish? or just go straight to the polish?
thanks APOLOGIES For the poor camera quality i will use a better camera next time

Thanked: 28ok i polished it with autosol. the bengall is looking quite nice a few small bits of rust on the spine.
the bushman has quite a bit of stuff that wont come off with the hand polishing. i might (very carefully) try using the dremel with a polishing wheel on it. should i move to wet dry sand paper now? whats a good starting grit.

Thanked: 580both look like they should come up ok, but the bengalls are great razors and it looks cleaner than the other one, probably just a polish will sort it, plenty of info on here about restoring them, the other one looks like a bit more work, worth the effort though.

Thanked: 28Yeah the other one is a bit more interesting for me as I've never heard of it. I'm pretty sure it's a bleckmann made in solingen(tang stamp)
it also has an eagle on the blade with the words e plurubis unum (which was the de facto motto of the united states until 1956 when it was changed to "in god we trust") and it's still on the american seal I believe. hoping someone can tell me more I only noticed it after polishing the blade, It's also a nice and thick 7/8 inch blade. polished up alright, I'm going to give the dremel a try tomorrow

Be very careful with spinning tools around razors....
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Thanked: 28Yeah i tried out the dremel, it's really hard to control I ended up crouching on the ground with the dremel pressed against my leg to lock it in position Lol and then just moving the razor around the dremel
