Thanked: 14polishing SR blade
I am new at all this and want to clean up some razors that have varying degrees of rust, stains, patina or pits. After using doing what I can with the sand paper, I want to polish the blades. Is a bench grinder with a cloth polishing wheel suitable? I have never tried it and was wondering if any of you have.
Thanks,
John

polishing SR blade
I think some guys use the wheels for polishing. I don't have any so I've been polishing by hand...takes a "bit" longer but it works.
I'd be worried about the blade taking off and killing me then again I don't have any practice with buffers.

Thanked: 170Your bench grinder probably is 3400 RPM. It will work if you use 4 inch polishing wheels. 6 Inch will give you too high a foot-per-second speed and will overheat your razor. Keep a container of cold water handy, and cool the blade often. If you overheat it, it will lose its temper, and be useless. Good luck on your project.

I hope that I understand the question?
Overheating the workpiece is very harmful. If you change the color of the items, it is irrevocably Shaver. I advise you to start with a small-diameter polishing. Then themselves determine at what speed is the best polishing.
It is best to have a machine with speed control. With it you can work with disks of different diameters. If something is unclear in the text, please correct me ......
