    Default Cleaning up simple rust/tarnish

    Hey guys,

I have a Dovo Bismarck that is just a few months old. It's my first razor and I wasn't aware of how well I had to dry it in the beginning and as a result, there are a few fairly minor spots/discoloration. What can I use to safely clean it up?

The Bismarck, if my recollection serves, has some etching and gold-plating. To avoid damage to the plating, I'd use #00 steel wool and a penetrating lube (like Triflow). The lube isn't a necessity, just a preference.

I'd follow that with a quick buff with some Mother's metal polish on a soft cloth. I love the billet stuff, but that is also preference.

Someone probably has a better suggestion, but I'd use the aforementioned slowly, by hand, to protect the plating.
Do to budget cuts the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off; we apologize for any inconvenience.

Welcome to SRP. I use metal polish such as flitz, semichrome, mother's is good from what I hear. If you use any of those and it gets on the gold wash it will take it off. To get in the pivot area dental floss with the afore mentioned polish will work with some perseverance thrown in.
