I've shaved with frowning razors and lived to discuss it. One option is not to "hone it out", but just hone it properly, and the frown will disappear over time. You can't put steel back on a razor.

I guess that is what I meant. I'm not planning on butterknifing, grinding, or anything drastic at this point. It shaves well now and I will attempt corrective action slowly, through proper honing. I will escalate if and when necessary.
I hope to avoid frowns in the future, but it's a risk when ordering from the eBay.

Sweet! Now you have a reason to try your hand at making a new set of scales!! Or getting some of the great guys in the services area to personalize it for you!! Woot!
To soon?
Seriously though. That bites, but it's also an opportunity to have a blade that's "all yours." Sorry about your luck!David

It is not a bad thing really, at least I'm not sad about it anyway. I liked the raised "Adoration" lettering, which is all I am losing.
I checked into the member services and having someone else do the scales as I wasn't really wanting to be distracted with yet another hobby/thing-to-do, but the price isn't worthy of this razor; so, I will make some simple scales...in fact I just received a reply from the local plastic distributor--$2/lb.

If it is a metal inlay, Glen (gssixgun) did a video on removing them.
If it is just cast into the scales, there is a thread around on casting your own scales from a mold made from the old ones IIRC.
A search may be of assistance here.Hang on and enjoy the ride...

This one is not metal and not really worth the trouble to make a cast. However, there are some metal ends I want to salvage off some other scales, so thanks for the info!
