Well ladies and gentleman, I just learned the hard way... It was my first attempt at buffing, and I neglected to remember which way the buffing wheel was turning. This was my result; I heard a "ping", then saw a piece of metal fly across the room!

I just got this beat-up Torrey, and was looking forward to restoring it... now I have a much bigger problem!! ...Moral of the story--ALWAYS pay attention to which way the wheel is turining!!
