Made my first set of scales

I have made my first set of scales and they turned out pretty nice. Now time to polish the blade and assemble. Can't wait to get this first restore done and shave with it!!!!!

Oh no....I wasn't that bold to try horn on my first try. It is African black wood. I will try to get som better pics to show grain.

Those look fantastic,have been dinking around with Af. Blackwood for a few days.really starting to like it,am amazed at how well it polishes.
The pic is going to be a handle for one of my Loom strops with a bit of Ivory furniture attached,the rest will have Ivory inlay.Pls post the final when done.

Very kool. Making my own strop is next on the list. Then I want to learn about making brushes......the learning never ends.......I love it!!!

I have some blackwood I'm devoting to some scales. I was thinking tung oil, but this is inspiring.

Thx, No thats my rockwell 45-460 wood lathe,only finish I use it rottonstone and linseed oil to polish only, than about 4 coats of ren-wax.
Ido use my southbend to get all into perfect demensions for the boreing and facing off the ends tho.
