But why not make it smile? :)
That's a Klingon blade !!....They don't smile :medvl:
thanks for the positive feedback guys. Lets talk scales. what are you guys thinking, material, color, shape, pins style? c'mon! Gimme some ideas! The only two thing that come to mind for this blade is either dyed red pressed horn or maybe some jade micarta? any othe ideas???
not enought blade left to make it smile... (frown) :(
I'm normally pretty reserved with my own choices when it comes to scale material (black/honey horn, wood), but for this one I think you should go pretty bold with the scales! Micarta, G10, something with some bold colour, and a contrasting wedge. I don't think this bad boy would be properly contained by traditional scales. :)
Okay so here the update. There have been many trials and tribulations and likley unorthodox methods used on my part to get the razor from when i lasted posted untill now. Lets just say in so many words- its been a learning expieriance. None the less i am happy with the results overall. Rather then go with a pure mirror polish i choose to do something a little different. I acid etched the spine, tang and tail and polished the blade giving this guy a two tone effect. I had never etched a blade before. I used the hot vinigar methof which, FYI works really well. The etchiong gave a nice satin finish to the steel. Once done i mirror polished the blade which has some flaws (due to my trails and tribulations). This project makes me realize i need to find my digital camera bc my iphone takes crap pics, As the pics do this blade little justice. But heres what i got- step 3 scales- ill keep you posted.

My first thought was carbon fiber scales. maybe with some red accents some how. A shape that goes with the razor lines. Or carbon and silver like 2 tone to match ?
Looks very good , looking forward to the completion!
