    Default scales

As I git more and more into straight razors, I think I would now like to do some restoring. I have ordered some wood blanks for scales, but I would like to know is there a place were I can git different patterns for the different scales, you know slender or wide, rounded ends or pointed ends. Also the wedge do mostle maere own, or is there somewere you I can by thim. Last is the washers were do I look for them and what size. Thanks

I order my washers and stuff off of Ebay. Its from Maggard-razors who is a member here named Undream. This way I know I'm getting what I want and not end up with something useless. As for wedges I use a lot of Tagua nut that I get from leevalley. Its an ivory color and works great. For shapes of scales the best thing to do is check out what some of the other guys are doing in the customs and restoration gallery. Then just draw them out on paper until you reach something you like.

Check this thread out for all the answers you need to start doing restorations. It will help a lot.

Trace the blade onto paper w/ a #2 pencil, then go back over it w/ ball point pen. Take the pencil and free hand them until you get the shape you like. Cut the template out and use double sided tape to put it onto your stock. Cut around it and sand the edges flush w/ the template. take it off and thin the stock to desired thickness. TA DA!
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Here's a list of a lot of existing scale types for a lot of razors, print them on A4 paper for true size: LINK
