    Default Re-painting tang markings

I have a nice Henkels that has a simple design on the tang--might be their logo, but I can't remember.

Anyway, the design is etched or stamped into the metal, and the lines are colors with some kind of red paint.

Thinking I could repaint it, I grabbed some red enamel and a brush at the hobby store.

Any suggestions for how I might go at this? I'm thinking that I just paint over the area, wipe off the excess, then let it dry and polish off any enamel left on the surface.

Would that work, or am I going to have to repaint the lines and hope I don't get any on the rest of the metal?

    Thanks,
    Josh
