    (Really Quick Question)

Will metal polish (specifically MAAS) remove enough metal to damage a "frosted" etch? (example being and etch like the W&Bs that say "you lather well, I'll shave well")

I searched a bit and can't find a thread that just discusses this without the involvement of sandpaper, buffers, etc. as well.

    Thanks in advance!

maas or flitz only do just that, polish, they remove metal on a microscopic level, basically like swirl remover on your cars paint. As long is there is no gold wash it's good, if you got gold in it, use the mr. clean window cleaner you can find at auto parts stores.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Nope, won't hurt a thing with a etch. Gold & some paint it can effect, but on that particular razor you mention...polish away.

    This is true.

As an experiment the other day, I tried painting in a blade etch with enamel then sanding off the excess -- it looked wonderful.

One swipe with the Maas and every speck of the paint was gone. The acid etch remained just fine though, and always has. Really vigorous polishing on broad, solid darkened etch patches might lighten some, but they're usually relatively durable.

thank you everyone. I was just curious if the "frosting" is an actual etch or if it sits above the metal similar to gold wash. I've never actually had a razor like the one I have no so I wanted to be sure.
