    Default ca finish

I recall a while ago people saying ,to apply ca put it on spread wipe off excess and let dry do that 10-15 times . I noticed something the other day ,I was able to apply coating of ca in one go much thicker than than the 15 normal coats.
The glue I was using was bought from thase $2 shops ,about 10 3mg tubes for $2
it sort of worked like when water beeds together on a freshly polished car ,so I would say that it has something to do with the surface tension of the glue.
what I did was to put the first coat on the wood as normal , decided to try to make the coat thicker to save time ,normaly if you try to make the coat thick it dries very uneven so what I did was to squeese the tube untill a drop of glue was hanging off the end of the nozzel and when I touched it to the glue that was already on the wood ,it pulled the drop off the nozzel and sat on the wood like a beed of water on polished paint and it didn`t run . Using that method I was able to build up the layer of glue to compleatly cover the scale right to the edge . It is important to keep the scales level otherwise the glue build up even further depending which end is lower while it is drying.
Ofcourse if you try to apply too much it will run off but with a bit of practice you get a nice even thick coating in one go . I let it dry overnight a quich rub back and a buff and we are ready to go
weather this will work for every one I don`t know, probably depends on the glue
    Kind regards Peter

Sounds interesting, but I think I'll stick to nice thin coats applied with finger cots. I find it's just much easier to have thin consistant coats than trying to be so much more careful to avoid the headaches of thicker coats.

Vlad also told me that he does like CA abit thicker, and that he mixes the super thin stuff with the slightly thicker variety in a 3:1 or so ratio to give it abit more viscosity. So, I don't doubt you're on to something here, but until someone really perfects this whole CA finish business, I think I'll stick with the thin coats. I also like the thin coats because they can be dried enough in only a few minutes to apply another coat.
