i am going to reply by saying that you should do as it pleases your skin, hands and eyes. i am an avid bike rider/mechanic, and when i buy a new bike i do it to ride it and enjoy the thing. the thing that you have to remember is that hobbies are not really profitable; unless you want to run a business.
