Default Where do I start on this restore..?

Ok pictured is a crown and sword razor I'm gonna try,and do my,first full restore on .. Where do I start with the grits and the progression? Do I hand sand or do greaseless or just send it out .. If I do greaseless what grit do I start with ? If I screw up the sanding is it something that will b able to be corrected by a pro.? I'm a lil scared I'm gonna mess her up because from the forums I read she will be a great shaver..Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362946597.965199.jpg

I think hand sanding has a lower chance of ruining the blade compared to greaseless compounds. First, you have to determine what look you want for your restored razor. Do you want a high mirror polish? satin polish? keep the etching on the blade intact? once you know how far you want to go at removing patina, then you can start with the appropriate grit.

Also, if you have that many reservations about messing up a razor that you like, buy a more plain jane razor that needs some work and practice sanding/polishing on that.
