My first restoration
Started on this Clauss a while back and finished the other day.
I sanded the blade with 180, 220, 320, 400, and 600 grit sandpaper and then used my Micro-Mesh polishing system of 2400, 3200, 4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000 grit polishing grits. I followed it up with some Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish. I am happy with the results.
Here are the before and after pictures of the blade.
I also repaired and polished the scales as one broke cleanly near the hinge pin when I unpinned it.
They had chips in them as well so I glued the broken piece back with CA glue, filled the chips with CA glue and sanded them with progressive grits from 320 through 12000 like I did the blade.
Working on the scales reminded me a lot of the plastic model aircraft I have been building on and off for over 25 years as many of the same techniques apply.

Those scales look really nice for all the work you put onto them. I am with everyone else on the finished pics.
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

Thank You gentlemen I appreciate the comments and I will post a pic when I pin it but it is going to be a couple of weeks as I am doing some traveling to see my son starting this Friday.
Kalerolf, I long to visit your country my friend as I am half Dutch on my dad's side and we have been in the USA since the 1650's. I think my Dutch lineage explains my love for growing flowers and other things. My son is a Drill Instructor in the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island, SC
