It's a shame that you couldn't keep the original etching on the blade, I think it looks cool...but that's just me :P

the blade was never that thin to begin with, pretty sure it got that way from like 6 hours of sanding with 150 grit sandpaper trying to remove pitting lol.

The breadknifing is actually working on 240 grit sandpaper atm.

why would you say it's history pixelfixed?

But i'm still buying a new blade... not from whipped dog this time as I'm not a fan of getting a rusty blade - this blade will be brand spanking new .

I would say it is history because now you going to need to radicaly change the blade profile and the stabilizers.

Ic, I figured it would just become a 4/8 instead of a 5/8 lol. Gonna try breadknifing some more to flatten it than see what i can do.... if it shaves afterwards job well done... if not... worth the experience ^_^

Why am I picturing a spine on a tang with no blade ? Just a suggestion here but I would slow down a bit. It sounds like a sandpaper experiment more than a restore trial. You have a nice set of hones to get it sharp again ? It's probably a mute point now I was just wondering.

Lol, i kinda got mad at this blade for being so ugly and wanted to make it really shiney seeing everyone else with super shiny razors so i decideed to try my hand at sanding this one since it's a cheap whipped dog razor. Almost done... will post a pick up when i got this sucker flat...sadly it's not a round point anymore but that's okay I plan on rounding it back off on the backside of my norton lapping stone... picks coming soon

Hone wise I got a norton 4/8 so I can bring it back to life.

I'm afraid I'm with Pixelfixed on this one, and I think 10Pups image of a spine and tang with no blade is sticking in my head too...

It looks like quite a large amount of steel has been removed, not only in terms of the blade's width (i.e. edge to spine) where the chip was removed, but also in terms of its thickness. That will alter not only the geometry of the edge, but also the strength of the blade. And in order to hone it properly, the stabilizers will now have to be altered which will further reduce the blade's strength. So that's why IMHO I think it might be kaput. That having been said, I'm not the one with it in my hands, so take that for what it's worth.

If you want a shiny one, then I think your ides of sticking with a new blade next time is a good one. You might also want to check out the classifieds here at SRP as some very nice vintage blades can be found there, often with a mirror finish.

Lol, breadknifed with love. Probobly still garbage but im gonna sand it till it sparkles, hone it till it HHT's like nobodies business and shave with it. Than if it sucks at the shaving stage... I have a cool pocket knife...
