    Default Goldwash

I have had this razor for awhile now, but can't decide what to do with the goldwash. There is some rust spots on the goldwash and not sure if I want to remove it to get rid of the rust or leave it. It is hard to see the rust in the photos as they are tiny spots along the top of the blade near the spine. Not really sure how much damage it would do to leave the rust on there. The goldwash is already gone on the tang and it looks kind of sloppy on the blade. Figured I would ask everyone what they would do. I am leaning more towards removing it cause I don't like the idea of leaving it on there. I have tried aluminum foil, erasers, and many other things to get rid of it without taking the goldwash off, but I don't think anything will work without removing it.

AFAIK, anything that will take the rust off will also take the goldwash. I've got a few vintage razors in that condition and I have chosen to leave well enough alone.

If the goldwash is already damaged, personally, I would not run the risk of the rust going deeper into the metal. So I would remove the rust now before it gets worse.
