    Default Custom Clear Acrylic Scales

I wanted to share these scales I got for my 5/8 restoration project. I looked at a lot places for clear scales, at some point I thought of cutting up my own but I ended up buying them from Cutting Edge Razors. They are fairly inexpensive and they do custom engravings(I got a mustang),though scales are thicker than normal(I measured 3mm). I was impressed so got the transparent black also. Recommend the scales(don't have experience with other items from seller). Will do a update after pinning the blade.

Interesting. I have thought about them a couple times. I'd like to see the end project.

Still thinking of a way to get them thinner without scratching them out though the scratchings might give it that icy look

Just to be on the safe side.....see if #400 wet'n'dry is too agressive ?...Maybe higher.

Acrylic is actually quite difficult to sand so I would go lower than 400 - don't worry about scratchmarks as they will come out when you use higher grits.

If I were you I'd bevel them all round and take them to whatever thickness you prefer. Usually I'd do this on the outsides so that the insides stay very flat - you don't wany any variation when you fit the wedge. However, this will ruin the engraving so you have to make the choice.
