    Well, you only have to go back to square 1 on half the set and no fingers were hurt during the incident. Is/was looking like a nice pair.

    There are some really cool wood scales that were done in the distant past on SRP IIRC called "Fusion Scales" some really neat effects doing sorta like you started, you should do some searches and take a look it might give you some good ideas

    I've sanded through my fair share of keratin thinning scales on the belt sander. My fingernails know your pain.

    The difficulty just makes you appreciate the end result more. I glued a scale to my hand mid-way through doing my first CA finish. Eventually I got everything sorted out and I'm mighty fond of that razor now.

    Always manage to miss the nail and go straight for the nuckle on the 80 girt belt...I think my belt sander doesn't like me sometimes.
    Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.
