    Default Screwed Up Bigtime

Evening gentlemen, I recently acquired a 2nd hand Dovo razor off eBay and upon receiving it I noticed the blade was a little blemished.

In my ignorance I thought it'd be a good idea to leave it to soak in a Steradent (denture cleaning tablets) solution.

Upon removing it from the liquid some hours later the blade is now an ugly grey colour as opposed to the chrome/stainless steel finish it was originally and the gold lacquered panel with the lettering on it has badly faded.

Is is possible to get this razor restored to it's former glory or have I put it beyond repair?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know about bringing back the faded gold part but you could give the blade a light cleaning with a mild detergent to see if it helps with the gold bit. For the rest of the blade I would tape over what is left of the gold to protect it and try polishing the rest of the blade with a metal polish and cloth. Good luck.

Orb, I think Bob tells ya right. Goldwash is a peeve of mine. Its so frail its not worth having for me. I have some, but will always prefer one w/out. Given its 1/2 way gone and you have some metal polishing to do - I'd just go ahead w /the metal polish. Its going to remove the goldwash, but that sounds like its mostly done now. If a little Maas or Mother's doesn't bring it back quickly, try some Barkeeper's Friend scouring powder. 'slightly more abrasive, and a good lead-up to just straight polish on a cloth.
