The worst possible scenario....
I spent four hours hand sanding to remove the patina and pits in the blade. I got 90% of it. Took it to the buffer for less than 1 minute and I heard the crack in my hand. I never even saw the crack throughout sanding. I'm sick!

That's far from the worst scenario. The worst scenario is that it breaks and the buffer flings it right back at you. I've seen pictures of when that happened. You don't want that.
What you could do is a soak in vinegar. The vinegar will creep in the smallest cracks and make them stand out black. Or so I've been told. I've never tried this because I don't use buffer wheelsTil shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
