Thanked: 17Mother of Pearl
I won an ebay razor that has a MOP insert on the tang of the blade (where the manufacturer mark is). I plan on taping it up when honing, but what about cleanup and polishing... is there any concern with typical cleaners or metal polishes and MOP? What should I use on it to shine it up?
Thanks.

Do not use a typical metal polish on MOP. Just use something like a Cape Cod Polishing Cloth or you can use a dremmel with a very fine rouge meant for plastics or even a red rouge for gold and silver. No strong chemicals though. Also a jewelers buff for gold polishing will work nicely.

Just out of curiousity, why no metal polishing compounds?

The stuff is comprised of calcium carbonate and most metal polishes contain chemicals that will be detrimental to the finish. It may not destroy it but will remove the fine natural finish. There is no need to use a jackhammer to hit a finishing nail in a moulding.
