Default Warped blade. How should I fix it?

    Hi guys,
I've just gotten the restoration bug recently. I haven't really been shaving with a straight all that long, I've had my great-grandfather's for a bit over a year but shaving has been mix and match with mostly de's up till now. I don't get BBS shaves yet, but I don't cut myself and razor burn is down a lot.
Anyways, here's my first its one of my great-granddads (who I'm named after, how cool)

It is fully together and I just started honing it. It has shaved okay (different topic).

    Anyways, onto the real question.
I picked up a Griffon Carbomagnetic and got it to mirror polish and in some scales and started trying to hone it up. But it seemed to always get a frown. So I finally looked at it edge on. The spine is bent, about halfway from toe to heel is where the bend occurs. It is a slight bend, but consistently causes a frown. Is it fixable? If so how?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Crazy coincidence! I'm working on restoring an heirloom passed down to me from my dad. I have made new scales out of olive wood (that look very similar to yours). I have put in some amber inlay into the scales as well.

Anyway, after pinning today, I go to put the razor in the scales and notice that I have the same problem as well. The blade actually nicks the side of the scale when closing. Anyone have any help on potentially bending the blade after heating it? Will the ruin it?

Its a little hard to tell from your picture. But it looks like your tang may not be in line with the spine. Have you tried playing with the pinning?

    Thanks though.
    Your's looks nice.

    mandarb777,
I think it would be best to either take it to a meetup or send it to a pro for evaluation and honing.

    Dfarris24,
Trying to bend a hardened bit of steel is very likely to result in a broken blade. For the centering have you read Blade Centering - wiki section.

Thanks for the tip on the Blade Centering article in the wiki. I had seen that a while back, but I could not find it again. The tang does appear to be the issue. However, the blade portion is slightly bent as well, as I was informed of this when I had it honed.

As far as the centering is concerned, I think I will sand of a little of the inside edge of the scale at the pivot. Hopefully that will work!

    Thanks gentlemen!

you can't fix bent spine, attempting that will result in breaking the razor.
You can change your honing ways to get around that, use rolling x-stroke.
