If it for workshop use, you should be able to usr an old speaker. They have a large magnet in the back of the cone, usually free on the side of the road or really cheap from auto scrapyards/ secondhand stores.

Be careful when using magnets. I lost a very nice razor by placing it too close to the magnet. The razor got drawn over quickly to the magnet which cracked a chunk of the edge off.
You can also get rare earth magnets from old hard drives and from Walmart in the crafts section.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

No probs, might be an idea to put a piece of something between the magnet and the blade, then you can lift the something up to get the blade off the magnet. A thin piece of steel or even card might work. It will allow the blade to stay flat and prevent it getting pulled onto the magnet. If you were going really fancy you could have a fixed bench with a magnet beneath that you could raise and lower. Whatever you do I hope it works.

A good idea is to have a layer of tape or other fairly strong plastic over the magnets to be removed between grits. That will reduce the chance of grit transference ruining your polish. I didn't and now I do!
