Default Type of Hammer to Pin?

Hello Everyone! Long time no see!

It has been a while since I have been on the forums. With school and lacrosse just been way to busy! Its all over now, so I have some time to mess around with honing and pinning! Which brings me to my question, what type of hammer is best suited for pinning? Just need something cheap that I could buy locally! Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I use a 4oz ball peen that was my wifes grandfathers. It has his initials marked into it and its very sentimental to me. It also works super good!! I know some guys like a bit heavier hammer which will also work very well.

Alright thanks guys! Might just go pick on up today. Have a Geneva with super crappy plastic scaled and have a pain of walnut sitting around and might just give it a go!

I think there's probably an ideal shape or radius size but everything can be comprised on.

I don't like the lighter hammers, I have an 8 oz ball peen. I have pinned razors with a roofing hammer before.

For some reason, this made me think of someone making scales for a machete...

I'm definitely not recommending the roofing hammer. It did work though.
