Thanked: 3I've had a first good result by using a couple of coatings of transparant nail varnish, applied with a very fine brush, to cover the wash. But I started out with a 400 grit sandpaper, them worked my way up to a 2500, followed by polishing with a <.25 micron emulsion. After that I stripped the varnish with amyl acetate. Worked fine for me but I did everything by hand (am an insomniac so plenty of time). Not a perfect solution but it worked for me.
Am actually still looking for a good solution to re-apply the gold wash cover, if anyone has tips for that, please shoot. Currently think ng about an electrolytic way, covering the rest of the blade in varnish. Haven't tried it yet though. It is preferable to have a criminal as a servant rather than a fool because a criminal's actions are at least predictable.
