If you have an edge with no smile and a honing plane slightly longer than the edge it would be the same thing for asymmetrical and symmetrical grinds alike, I would say.

This method is fun and challenging, for the last couple months I have experimented with it in my finish runs, it does help straighten an edge and longitudinal flattening occurs fast in slurry in earlier stages, I like it a lot and talk about a polish. Pithor, you were right about the grinds, with a little finesse much can be accomplished.
