Thread: Slurry Dulling

So this should be fun

I keep hearing this term tossed around, and would really love to hear thoughts about this

PLEASE PLEASE do not simply toss in a link or say "A well known Honester said" I cannot ask a link a question and if that honester isn't on SRP I can't debate with them..

So would love to hear any explanation of the term or process called Slurry Dulling

Okay, I know I've been a bit off and on the past couple years, but this I have never heard of..

I only use slurry with Jnats and can't say I find differences. For me with that type of stone there is none. I am talking about hard J-nats that do not release slurry on their own.

How does that address the OP question?

Sorry, it was a cheeky attempt to say: If people are finding the slurry dulls their edge, I would suggest diluting. Slurry like many things- less is more. --without taking away any fun that OP may have been looking forward to in a planned debate of a very dubious term.
i.e. That was me 'sitting back and drinking a glass of water while watching a slurry dulling debate unfold'

I am obviously out of the 'loop' having never heard of 'slurry-dulling' before, and having no idea on how to explain the term???



Having said that I agree with Stefan...except I also use slurry with Coticules. My Escher's are water only finishers (Usually), and I use oil on the CF's and LI's and the Arks.

I think there are too many "experts" out there that like to invent new things so they can stand out of the crowd of honers that is swarming the internets. I do not think there is such thing as slurry dulling but may be someone can come here with facts and prove me wrong.

Close to what I thought.
Still may be someone will come an share experience with hones other than J-Nats.

I don't know anything about slurry dulling. But if you don't have a bevel, you're just polishing a dull edge.
