Wouldn't it be possible to use a diamond tipped scratch pen to scratch the glass length wise and then snap it like you would do with floortiles?
How sure are we that the glass is actually tempered glass?Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 335But what if Shapton is wrong and you can score and snap it? What if some of us tread-lightlyers are just paranoid and ridiculously over cautious?
I think someone who needs a lithe and slender Glasstone should try it with a couple of their Shaptons just to test the theory. Yup, someone should give it a whirl.
Anyone?

Well I guess HAD started itching since I've been checking out so many hones lately trying to find a new 1k that didn't need soaking and wasn't attached to a 220 side lol. I just bought THIS after checking out Norton, Bester, Shapton GS, Pro, DMT, and Naniwa among others (P.S. the shipping and price from this seller CANNOT be beat!). I plan on trying to cut it in half and then having two narrow 1k hones. I know it isn't as thick as some others (that link says 1/2" but I believe it is actually 15mm. The Shapton Pro is every bit as good as the glass stone from all the comparisons I have read. It is harder than plenty of other stones, wears slower, cuts faster, and doesn't need soaking. So hey, I think I'll be happy. I also think the Glass stones do carry a bit of hype that isn't necessarily warranted from all that I have read, heard, and seen. Anyway, my quest to cut a GS is now ending I believe. If someone else wants to take over "the dream", be my guest lol!

Good move Alex. I use Pros and they are darn good. They are 15mm BTW.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
