    Reverse-osmosis filters sound good.
Or plain old water distillers if the energy cost doesn't concern you. (I figure if I'm using electricity to heat my house I may as well put it to double use by running electrical devices other than simple heaters.)

I have been surviving on tap water. That is what i mostly drink. Coffee in the morning and water for the rest of my day & night. So far so good.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
