Thanked: 402Well fun is all that is left for us, cause you got this wonderful hone!
Sham, better don't hit it.
I remember that they do not break or chip easily cause we were playing with flints as kids
but it would be a real pity if it would chip at the wrong spot..
Better description of that smell is not sulfur, its firecracker rather.Last edited by 0livia; 07-01-2009 at 01:07 AM.

Thanked: 132Sigh...now i want to take my razor up into the Cascade mountains here and try it on all the native rocks, until i find a special one that none of you guys have, then have it cut into a hone.
Im still somewhat suspicious that it might be yellow jasper...since jasper has been used for both, hones and knapping arrowheads. Sigh...maybe i should let it go...let it go Mac. lol

Thanked: 402Well there are two ways out:
Either we stop talking about hones, which I find highly undesirably and unlikely
or you go here, scroll down a little and look at so many nice rocks that you become more relaxed.
Too bad the hone from Sham is so far away. I'd love to know what it is really

Thanked: 402ok, if that technique with beauty overload doesn't work,
we'll try scary HAD:
Go here and click on "Sharpening Stones"!
Meditating would be nice but we could also try to analyze briefly with acids and microscopes and the like...
