I have seen several of those. The space between the stag and the dogs, hunter and dogs vary. I have one with 10 dogs! I think those inlays were availiable to many makers back in the day. All I have seen were oriented the same way, I think.

I agree with Sharpton here. I have a few old blade scales with stamping and onlays which are, to us, upside down.

Another idea is that it was one of a pair, so when laid out in a box, the inlays were both right side up??
